POSITION: HEALTH SERVICES SPECIALIST II - JUVENILE HEALTH

JOB LOCATION: Denton, TX--Juvenile Detention Health
MINIMUM SALARY RANGE: $1,437.346 - $1,667.322 Bi-weekly
DUTIES: Performs medical care and specialized detention work in the care and security of juveniles in the juvenile detention facility to ensure their constitutional rights and welfare are safeguarded in the Juvenile Detention Center.  Work involves responding to emergency and non-emergency medical calls or requests in the Juvenile Detention; performing medical screenings; performing patient chart documentation duties; and distributing medications as prescribed.  Employee is also responsible for performing juvenile classification duties.  Employee must exercise alertness and independent judgment in dealing with unusual situations. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of medical and jail work, including potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or a general equivalency diploma (GED), supplemented by training and certification  as a Medical Assistant, Paramedic, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse; or two years of verifiable experience in a related healthcare environment; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to be certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education as a Jailer or Peace Officer within one (1) year of employment as provided by Denton County.
