| MINIMUM SALARY: | $1,255.423 Bi-weekly |
| DUTIES: |
Performs medical care and specialized detention work in the care and security of inmates to ensure their constitutional rights and welfare are safeguarded in the County Jail. Work involves responding to emergency and non-emergency medical calls or requests in the County Jail; performing medical screenings; performing patient chart documentation duties; and distributing medications as prescribed. Employee is also responsible for instructing and coordinating the work of detention officers and other jail staff assisting with inmate medical services. Employee must exercise alertness and independent judgment in dealing with unusual situations. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of medical and jail work, including potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens. |
| QUALIFICATIONS: |
A high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma, supplemented by vocational courses in Emergency Medical Technician or Medical Assistant training and 1 to 2 years experience in providing medical care; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. |
| REQUIREMENTS: |
Certification or ability to be certified within required time frame as an Emergency Medical Technician or Medical Assistant. Ability to be certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education as a Jailer or Peace Officer within one (1) year of employment, as provided by Denton County. |
