POSITION: HEALTH TECHNICIAN
ANNOUNCEMENT

JOB LOCATION: Denton, TX--Public Health
MINIMUM SALARY: $1,760.808 Bi-weekly
DUTIES: The Health Technician performs a variety of professional and technical public health work. This position works to favorably influence overall community health status by providing comprehensive and coordinated health education programs to county residents, informing residents of health risk factors and evaluating, organizing, promoting, and implementing health risk reduction strategies through wellness programs and community wellness promotion.

  • Provides and coordinates comprehensive health education programs for county residents.

  • Informs residents of health risk factors and evaluates, organizes, promotes, and implements health risk reduction strategies through wellness programs and community wellness promotion, including education in community, work site, and school settings.

  • Develops and conducts effective health education and promotional presentations on health related topics and health department services.

  • Collaborates to increase health education program funding by writing, preparing, and managing grants for program support, enhancement, or expansion.

  • Oversees education and outreach programs to ensure program efficiency.

  • Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in related field required for this position. Minimum two years directly related experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.
