John B. Denton

Sarah Elizabeth Denton Hill Baker

Sarah Elizabeth Denton was the oldest child of John B. and Mary Greenlee Denton.  She was born on March 18, 1826 in Clark County, Arkansas.  She married Bernard Hill in 1842.  They had one son, Wilber Fiske Hill born March 15, 1844, the oldest grandchild of John B. Denton.  Bernard Hill died in May 1848.  Sarah Elizabeth married William C. Baker in 1850 in Titus County, Texas.  They had six children: Virginia Susannah, Thomas Crutcher, Catherine “Kate,” James William, Martha Elizabeth and Minnie. Sarah Elizabeth Denton Baker died on February 20, 1894 in Fannin County, Texas.  She is buried in the Elwood Cemetery in Fannin County.
