Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 26th day of April, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter, Bobbie J. Mitchell, and Cynthia White were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Senior Administrator to Commissioners Court, Erin McCorkle.
Court opened with an Invocation by Hank Scheible, Veterans Service Officer, followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Donna Stewart, Budget Director.
Mr. Scheible: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, we come before You now just asking that you would watch over us and guide us in these coming hours. You've told us to pray for our leaders. And, Father, we do now lift up the President and the members of the House and Senate, all of the judiciary.
Father, we lift up our governor and all of the State employees. Father, we lift up our Commissioners Court here and ask that you would give them guidance and direct their ways and means that they can handle the County's business in an efficient and fair manner today.
Lord, we do thank you for the privilege of living in a country that allows us the opportunity to govern ourselves. We only have to look around the world to see that this country is a very special country, for we decide who's going to lead us.
Father, we do praise You, because You are almighty and powerful and thank You for this blessing You've given us to come here and to decide how we will be governed. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.
