Deputy County Clerk
Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 9th day of November, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter, Bobbie J. Mitchell and Cynthia White were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Senior Administrator to Commissioners Court, Erin McCorkle.
Court opened with an Invocation by Associate Pastor Al Camp, Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton, followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Amy Phillips, Director of Human Resources.
Mr. Camp: Father, we come thanking You this day for the gift of life itself, for the freshness of a new morning and a change of seasons that we sense coming. Lord, we thank You for the privilege of being in a country that is free, for being able to experience voting and electing our officials as we did last week. Father, we pray for protection for those that are sworn to serve us, whether they be our local policemen or firemen or whether they be the men and women that are serving on foreign soil today. Father, we ask Your hedge of protection around them as they put their lives on the line for the freedom that we so casually enjoy sometimes. Lord, I ask for wisdom, for discernment, for a spirit of justice for these Commissioners, and for Judge Horn. Lord, they hold a grave responsibility. And we are told to give our leaders double honor, so Lord, we do that today for these that have come to make decisions that impact the lives of this community. So, Father, it's with great joy that we just pray Your richest blessings upon them, and upon their families and upon the time that they spend this day. It's in Your son Jesus Christ's name that we pray. Amen.
