Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 20th day of July, 2004, at 9:02 a.m. in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Bobbie J. Mitchell and Cynthia White were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Senior Administrator to Commissioners Court, Kathleen Bransford. (Commissioner Carter was out of town.)
Court opened with an Invocation by James Wells, Denton County Auditor, followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Georgia Caraway, Executive Director, Courthouse on the Square Museum.
Mr. Wells: Our Dear Heavenly Father, we ask You to give Your blessing and Your wisdom and Your mercy to this county, and to our leaders and to our fellow employees here. Guide us as we go about our work today and the rest of this week. Give us -- give us Your wisdom to make good decisions for the best for the citizens of this County. Forgive our sins, in Christ's name. Amen.

Willie Hudspeth asked for the water to be connected to the Confederate Soldier on the Square so he may drink from it and that the county property behind his home be cleaned up.
