Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 27th day of January, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. in the Denton County Pre-Trial Facility, 1406 Troy H. LaGrone Drive, Denton, Texas by County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter, and Cynthia White were present along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Deputy Clerk Mike Hackler.
Court opened with an Invocation by Tommy Brewer, followed by the Pledges to the American and Texas Flag led by Amy Phillips, Director, Human Resources.
Mr. Brewer: Father God, maker of this heaven and earth, we'd ask for Your presence to be here with us today. We thank you for the opportunity to meet in open forum and decide business on behalf of the citizens of Denton County. We pray that Your judgment and Your will would be served today. We thank You, Lord, for the men and women on active duty service overseas and in this country. We ask Your special blessing of protection for them. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

13.B) Approval of the possible revision of the list of organizations that are eligible to accept donations from juror’s pay from the following possibilities: (1) list all organizations that have requested to be listed,
(2) Commissioners Court choose the organizations that are to be listed, (3) list only those organizations that were recommended by the Social Services Committee, (4) list only the legislatively mandated organizations (Kash 4 Kids and Crime Victims Compensation Fund), or (5) altogether eliminate accepting donations from juror’s pay, and any appropriate action.
