Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 3rd day of October, 2003, at 9:05 a.m. in the Denton County Pre-Trial Facility, 1406 Troy H. LaGrone Drive, Denton, Texas by County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Bobbie J. Mitchell, and Cynthia White were present along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell's representative, Deputy Clerk Kathleen Bransford.

Court opened with an Invocation by James Wells, Denton County Auditor, followed by the Pledges to the American and Texas Flag led by Frank Phillips, Director of Administration.

Mr. Wells: Our Heavenly Father, we come to You today thanking You for all the blessings You've given to us. Help us to be mindful of those and always not take Your gifts for granted. We ask for guidance for the Commissioners Court, leaders of our State and Our Country. Be with them as they make the decisions that affect the citizens of this County and this Country. Forgive us of our sins and thank You for Your blessings. In Christ's name, Amen.

Interviews were conducted as set forth in the Denton County policies adopted by the Commissioners Court, except as otherwise stated in the appointment orders. These appointments are within the budgetary constraints.) 8.B) Approve revisions to Personnel Policy #1.4 - Order Making Appointments, and any appropriate action. (Briefing 9-30-03)

PUBLIC WORKS

10.A) Approval to proceed with the upgrading of Smiley Road (Precinct 1) from FM 428 to Parvin Road and Swafford Road (Precinct 4) form FM 156 to Wakefield Road from gravel to asphalt in accordance with Section 2.2B and 2.3 of the Denton County Road Policy, and any appropriate action. OTHER DEPARTMENTS

13.A) Approve use of the Tax Office parking lot, at 300 E. McKinney, on Saturday, October 18, 2003 (or October 25, 2003 if it rains on the 18th) for a benefit "yard sale" to assist a former staff member with
cancer, and any appropriate action. (Briefing 9-30-03)

14.A) Approval of the authorization for County Judge to execute tax resale deed from Denton County, Texas to Mr. Edgar Evans, and any appropriate action. (Briefing 9-30-03)
