November 26, 2002
Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 26th day of November, 2002, at 9:00 AM in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter, Bobbie J. Mitchell and Cynthia White were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell's representative, deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford.
Court opened with an Invocation by Vanessa Sims, Assistant to the Director of Economic Development and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Mr. Willie Hudspeth, Denton, Texas.
Ms. Sims: Most gracious Heavenly Father, we come today thanking You for allowing us the opportunity to rise again this morning. We come today thanking You for peace time. We ask that You would bless these elected officials and our county employees during this holiday season. We thank You for those who are gathered here this morning. We thank You for those that rose again and believe in Your name. Where there is hatred, let there be love. Where there is sickness, let there be health. Where love is needed, let us gather around and love those that need us. We thank You for the health. We thank You for the strength. We thank You for the many blessings that You have bestowed upon us. Thank You for the City and the County of Denton. We ask You, God, to bless our Country, Bless our leaders, bless those nations that may want to go to war. We ask a special blessing for those persons in the military, those young men that may go to war. We ask You that You protect our country. And last, Lord, give us safety over the holidays, let our families grow and love, let them come together. Protect those that are homeless. Those that are behind prison walls, let them feel they're loved even thought they are incarcerated. Lord, I offer You this prayer. I offer You a prayer for peace within our cities, in our school systems. We ask You this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
