April 24, 2001
Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas met on this 24th day of April, 2001 with Commissioner Bobbie J. Mitchell presiding. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter, and Cynthia White were present, along with deputy clerk Alvin Hudson, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:
Court opened with an Invocation by Donovan Davidson of the Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton, Texas, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flag led by Laurie Johnson, Court Reporter for Commissioners Court.
Pastor Davidson: Father, You've given us a brand new day, one that's never been used, and we pray we will make the most of it. Thank You for the beauty of it. As we look around, coming in here this morning, we see how creative and how powerful You are. Father, we just pause here at the beginning of this day to acknowledge who You are and really who we are. You know our needs. You know our hearts. You know our homes. And we just pray that as individuals, You will deal with each one of us. Guide us, we pray, as we move through this day. Lord, we pray for a measure of Your protection over each of us. And as we move through this day, Lord, because none of us have great wisdom, we pray for wisdom from You. We pray that You would be with everything that goes on in this room today and keep us all aware that You're hear, as well, that You're in this very room. So, Father, we thank You for Your presence. We thank You for the privilege of a brand new day. And now, Father, as we enter this day together now, we pray that prayer that You taught us, Your disciples to pray years ago. And now would each of you join me, please, in our Lord's Prayer. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen.
