January 16, 2001

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 16th day of January, 2001, with Judge Scott Armey presiding. Commissioners White, Jacobs, Mitchell and Carter were present, along with deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with an Invocation by Lockadee Newland, Chief Administrator for Comm. White, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Harold Alexander, Chief Administrator for Comm. Carter.

Ms. Newland: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for this day. Thank You for loving us and help us to love others as You have loved us. We pray for Your wisdom and guidance as we go about our jobs today. We pray for peace around the world and for the people in El Salvador in the aftermath of the earthquake. Please bless and comfort us. This is the day You have made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Amen.

ITEM 1 PUBLIC INPUT

Judge Armey thanked the Print/Mail Department - Laura Lewis and Michelle Vera - for their late hours and hard work to copy all of the agenda books for today's Commissioners Court meeting.

Judge Armey announced that yesterday was Comm. White's birthday and welcomed back Comm. Carter.

Mr. Dale Hoff from the Federal Emergency Management Agency briefed the court on FEMA's audit of Denton County.

Captain Bob Powell of the Sheriff's Office introduced Matt Reinl, Project Director for Hunt Construction, to update the court on the Project Budget and Schedule of the Pre-Trial Facility, Enforcement Center & Kitchen.

Kelly Zwinggi, Director of Public Works, and Danny Brumley, Director of Operations, gave a report on why the 4th Floor of the Denton County Courts Building was meant to house the county criminal courts.

Pete Hammerle, formerly Chairman of the Building & Property Sub-committee, addressed the court on the future concerns of the courts building.

Cynthia Mitchell, Denton County Clerk, voiced her support of the plan to house the county courts on the 4th Floor.

10.B) Approval of any appropriate action regarding ongoing, planned, and proposed county and state transportation projects; Denton County's Better Safer Roads Program; and any necessary action regarding the modification of the Denton County Master Thoroughfare Plan - Commissioners Court.
