January 9, 2001

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 9th day of January, 2001, with Judge Scott Armey presiding. Commissioners Mitchell, Jacobs & White were present, along with deputy clerk Marta De Leon, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with an Invocation by Roy Baines, St. David Episcopal Church in Denton, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flag led by Theresa Rogers, Denton County Records Preservation Manager.

Reverend Baines: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, send down upon those who hold office in this County and especially on this Commissioners Court the spirit of wisdom, charity, and justice; that with steadfast purpose, they may faithfully serve in their offices to promote the wellbeing of all people. In Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

ITEM 2 PUBLIC INPUT

Judge Armey read a memo from Comm. Carter stating that he would not be attending
Commissioners Court due to the fact that he would be in the remote mountains of Guatamala doing a mission for a water purification project.

Judge Armey announced that Denton's downtown square was designated on the National Registry of Historic Places - the first for Denton County.

3.A) Approval of a Resolution celebrating and honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.'s contribution/impact on equality at 10:00 a.m., January 15, 2001 in The Colony - Commissioner Precinct 1.
