December 1, 2000

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 1st day of December 2000, with Judge Kirk Wilson presiding. Commissioners Scott Armey, Sandy Jacobs, Jim Carter and Jeff Krueger were present, along with deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with an Invocation by Dr. Ben Smith of the Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Jim Heath, Legislative Council to the American Legion.

Dr. Smith: Almighty God, Creator of our universe and Lord of our lives, we are grateful today that the hands of our nation are in the hands of God, not in the hands of judges, not in the hands of politicians, not even in the hands of our own agendas, but in the hands of God, who watches out and cares for us. And we acknowledge You today and thank You that in these kind of changes You give us opportunity to pause and to look to You for guidance and direction. We are grateful today to those who will become servants of our community; for Scott and Bobbie, we give You thanks for their lives and for their witness before us as men and women of character and faith. Bless this occasion today to make us better friends and to make this a better community. We give You honor in the name of our Lord. Amen.
