October 31, 2000

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 31st day of October, 2000, with Judge Kirk Wilson presiding. Commissioners Jeff Krueger, Sandy Jacobs, Scott Armey and Jim Carter were present, along with deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with in Invocation by Pastor Jose Lopez, Templo Vida Nueva, Denton, Texas, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Steve Rollins, Denton County Planning Manager.

Pastor Lopez: Heavenly Father, we thank You for this opportunity to come to You. We are gathered here on this day to carry out the responsibility that has been delegated upon this Court. We ask that Your presence be in the midst of all the issues that will be considered, that You may give the officials of this County the wisdom to properly exercise their duties. We pray for the continuance of this government and that Your protection and guidance remain with this Court. Keep our community so it might maintain the prosperity it has had on this day. We pray that Your will be done in the upcoming election. May the leaders of tomorrow lead us into a better community for all. At this time, we recognize You and give You all the glory. In Jesus' name.

ITEM 2 PUBLIC INPUT

Judge Wilson made two announcements: first, the Juvenile Board has decided against the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for use by the Juvenile Justice Alternative Educational Program (JJAEP); second, the Texas Historical Commission awarded $450,000 to the Courthouse on the Square to be used toward the architect's fees for renovation plans.

3.A) Approve a Special Use Permit for Tract 9 and 8A, Abstract 1322, for a Fresh Water Treatment Facility subject to the Landscaping Ordinance of the City of Denton as requested by the City of Denton and recommended by the Lake Ray Roberts Planning and Zoning Commission - Commissioners Court.

Comm. Jacobs announced that the State Infrastructure Bank loan of $10 million had been approved by TxDOT and work could proceed.
