May 23, 2000

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 23rd day of May, 2000, with Judge Kirk Wilson presiding. Commissioners Scott Armey, Jeff Krueger, Jim Carter and Sandy Jacobs were present, along with deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford, when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with an Invocation led by Dr. Bing Burton, Director of Denton County Health Department, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Douglas Sanders, Director of Jail Health for the Denton County Sheriff's Department.

Dr. Burton: Lord, we thank You for this day, for the hope and opportunities that accompany it. We thank You for Your steadfast love and for Your mercies that are indeed new every morning. We ask Your blessings on this court and on all that come before it. We pray that Your spirit will guide our hearts and enlighten our minds. We pray that all that is said and done here would be pleasing to you, In Jesus' name, Amen.

ITEM 2 PUBLIC INPUT

Mildred Hawk invited the court to the graduation ceremony for the Hawkeye Reading School. She also announced to the court that the removal of the bridge on County Line Road will be on the Denton City Council agenda.

Bill Lewis of Trophy Club asks the court to explore better and quicker communications between the county and the cities, specifically the minutes for the meeting should be available at the next commissioners court meeting along with a video being provided immediately.

14.G) Approval of any Appropriate Action Regarding Environmental/Occupational Quality and Environmental Testing for All Denton County Facilities - County Judge.

Ken McBride, professional engineer for the Texas Department of Health, spoke to the court and answered their questions regarding this mold.

Move by Judge Wilson, second by Comm. Carter to approve the following: to find alternate office space for the probation staff located in the front of the Charlie A. Cole Building; authorize the purchase of a plane ticket for Caris Thompson, former president of Enviro-Safe; authorize the committee, consisting of Commissioner Krueger, Danny Brumley, Judge Wilson, Kelly Zwinggi, Beth Fleming, Carmen Rivera-Worley and Gustavo Hernandez, to recommend to the court several firms and their relationship to each other and to their structure under the Denton County Operations Department, with the process being exempted from bidding.
