March 14, 2000

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 14th day of March, 2000, with Judge Kirk Wilson presiding. Commissioners Jeff Krueger, Scott Armey and Jim Carter were present when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with an Invocation by Pastor Nollan Sucher of the Faith Lutheran Church of Flower Mound, Texas, and was followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Chief Jimmie Van, President of the Denton County Firefighters Association.

Pastor Sucher: Lord, God Almighty, we thank You for calling us to be a part of Your Kingdom and to serve You in a variety of ways. We pause at the beginning of this workday to acknowledge You as our Creator and as our Savior. You give us a variety of gifts and a variety of vocations to utilize those gifts, and we give You thanks for those who work in Your Kingdom in this place; for the Judge, the commissioners and for those who work behind the scenes in their tasks to make sure that the operation of this court goes smoothly. Today we are reminded of the privilege we have, not only of living in freedom, but the responsibilities as citizens to use the ballot to assure us of integrity in all government. And we pray that You would make us mindful of exercising that privilege this day. We pray Your blessing upon all the work that is before this court on this day. We pray that all of those who are responsible here will work with integrity in the decisions that will come up before the court. We remember, too, not only the workings of those who have been given positions of authority but the families and the loved ones who stand behind them, the homes represented by all here this day. We thank You for their love and support. For all Your goodness, Your mercy and Your grace, we give You thanks this day, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
