January 25, 2000

Be it remembered that Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, met on this the 25th day of January, 2000, at 9:08 am with Judge Kirk Wilson presiding. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Scott Armey, Jim Carter and Jeff Krueger were present along with deputy clerk Kathleen Bransford when the following proceedings were had, to wit:

Court opened with the Pledges of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag led by Don Alexander, Elections Administrator, and was followed by the Invocation with Dr. Oran Nabors, First Christian Church of Denton.

Dr. Nabors: Would you please remain standing. Will you pray with me. All Mighty God, we come before You this morning with thanks in our hearts for the gift of a nice rest and the opportunities of this, a new day. We call on Your promises to always be with us and, as this Commissioners Court opens this session this morning, let us feel Your presence among us and may Your will be known by these civic leaders, that the actions taken today will be pleasing to You and beneficial to the residents of Denton County. We give You thanks for the time and the energy and the expertise that these commissioners contribute as they serve faithfully in this honorable position. We are grateful for the pleasures of living in Denton County with the rural and education and business communities so supportive of one another, working for the good of the whole community. Oh Lord God, guide these leaders in all that they undertake this day and each day that they serve on this court. We pray in God's holy name, Amen.

ITEM 2 PUBLIC INPUT

Commissioner Carter presents to the court the Certificate of Compliance from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards that he accepted from Sheriff Weldon Lucas last week.

Move to approve by Comm. Krueger a full-time, on-site representative from Di Stefano/Santopetro Architects, Inc. for the building of the jail facility, second by Comm. Carter.

Armey: No. 15, an add of $1,075 for completing repairs to walls where existing rubber base was removed during asbestos abatement operations; No. 17.1, a deduct of $2,725 on 109 bags times $25.00 per bag of unused floor prep material; No. 94, an add of $1,563 to paint Room 204 and refinish existing benches in Room 204; No. 97, a deduct of $180 for the painting contractor to delete the removal of the existing window screen and subsequent painting of the existing window frame; No. 98, a deduct of $148 for the painting contractor to delete the floor sealer in the telephone rooms; and, No. 99, a deduct of $834 for the painting contractor to delete the painting of the mechanical, electrical and fire pump rooms from the scope of work.

Commissioner Jacobs provided executed original contracts from the five cities regarding improvements to State Highway 121 to the Civil Division of the District Attorney's Office for their review.

12.E) Approval of authorizing William P. Philips, Jr. to retain Jerry L. Gage, S.R.A., to prepare appraisal reports for Robson Ranch Road Project at a cost not to exceed $2000 per parcel, pursuant to the
Agreement between Denton County and Philips - County Judge.
